Richmond Country Farms

We grow crops right here in Richmond soil and bring them straight into our farm market. Family owned for over 60 years, we’re a working farm with fresh produce, seasonal events, plants, animals, and a little bit of country in the city.

Grown Right Here in Richmond

The market grew out of the day-to-day work of the farm. It’s a place to sell what’s grown here without putting a lot of distance between the land and the people buying from it.

Grown, gathered, and brought in close to home.

Farm Market Fresh

Why Shop Local

Buying local means the food does not have to travel far to get here. It is picked closer to when it is sold, which usually means better freshness and better flavour.

It also means you are buying what actually grows well in this area and at this time of year. Instead of the same produce year-round, the market changes with the season and reflects what is ready in the fields.

For us, local also means keeping that connection between the farm and the people shopping here. You can see where the food comes from, buy it where it is grown, and take home something that was produced close to home.

The Market through the Seasons

The market changes through the year, so what you see depends on what is growing and what is coming in at the time.

In spring, the market starts filling back in with early produce, greens, herbs, and plants for the garden. Summer is when there is the most variety, with fuller tables and more to choose from overall.

By fall, the market shifts again with harvest season. Pumpkins, squash, and potatoes start showing up more heavily, and the whole space reflects that time of year.

Alongside what is fresh from the season, the market also carries baked goods, pantry staples, and local products that can change through the year.

What’s Growing in Our Fields

Every season brings something a little different to the farm. Some crops come in early, some only show up for a short stretch, and some keep the market tables full for weeks at a time.

From berries and melons to corn, potatoes, squash, greens, and field vegetables, much of what you’ll find here starts right in our own soil.

Farming moves with timing, weather, soil, and the natural pace of each crop. Some produce is best enjoyed soon after harvest, while other crops are gathered, cured, stored, or brought into the market over a longer stretch.

What you see in the market reflects what is in season, what is ready in the fields, and what has been harvested and handled to keep its quality.

Country Farms Nursery

A Little More for the Garden

Alongside the farm market, we also have a nursery for the folks who want to bring a little bit of the season home with them. It is part of the same farm-market experience, just with plants, herbs, flowers, and garden starts instead of produce for the kitchen.

Through the season, the nursery fills with blooming plants, shade perennials, fresh herbs, berry and grape plants, six-pack veggie starts, and four-inch vegetable varieties. What is available changes as the weather warms up, as plants come in, and as garden season moves along.

It is a simple, practical place for gardeners. Whether you are filling a few porch pots, planting a backyard bed, starting vegetables at home, or looking for something pretty for the front step, the nursery gives you another way to take a piece of the farm home with you.

What’s in Season in the Nursery

Just like the crops in the field, the nursery changes as the season moves along. What you find here in May will not look the same as later in the summer, and that is part of the fun. Flowers, herbs, veggie starts, hanging baskets, berry plants, and garden favourites come and go depending on the weather, the time of year, and what is looking good right now.

Country Vines Winery

The Winery Just Down the Way

Country Vines Winery is the farm’s own winery, just a short walk from the market. It is part of the same Richmond Country Farms property, and it gives folks another place to slow down, sit for a while, and enjoy something grown close to home.

The winery works with grapes grown right here in Richmond, along with select B.C. fruit from the Okanagan. Behind the market, the estate vineyard grows varieties like Pinot Gris, Schonburger, and Perle De Scaba.

It is not meant to feel fancy or fussy. It is a farm winery with a tasting room, handcrafted wines, and a relaxed place to sit back after visiting the market. Stop in for a tasting, pick up a bottle, or make a little afternoon of it while you are here.

From the Vines to the Bottle

Country Vines is where the farm’s vineyard, cellar work, and tasting room all come together. Some grapes grow right here in Richmond, while other fruit comes in from our vineyards in the Okanagan.

The wine is made, finished, and bottled right here on the farm, close to where folks come to taste it. Follow the button below to learn more about the wines, the vineyard, and the winery just down the way from the market.

Seasonal Events

We host a few seasonal events throughout the year. The Sunflower Festival comes along in late summer, the Pumpkin Patch opens up in the fall, and Country Vines hosts Wine Club events through the year.

The Sunflower Festival brings folks out to the flower fields while everything is in bloom. Guests can walk through sunflowers, dahlias, wildflowers, and other seasonal flowers, take photos, grab something to eat, and stop by the market and winery while they are here.

The Pumpkin Patch is one of our busiest fall traditions. Visitors take a tractor wagon ride out to the patch, pick a pumpkin, walk through the corn maze, see the animals, stop for food, and spend a good part of the day around the farm.

Country Vines also hosts Wine Club events throughout the year. Some are tastings for new releases, some are dinners at the farm, and some tie in with bigger events like dinner in the blooms during the Sunflower Festival or fall gatherings around Pumpkin Patch season. It gives members a chance to enjoy the winery in a more personal way, with good food, good wine, and a reason to spend a little more time here.

Come Out for the Season

When event season rolls around, the farm gets good and busy. The Sunflower Festival brings folks out in late summer, the Pumpkin Patch fills the place up in fall, and Country Vines keeps things going with Wine Club dinners, tastings, and release events through the year.

Whether you are coming for flowers, pumpkins, food, wine, or just a good day outside, our events give you a reason to stay a little longer and make a proper farm visit out of it.

Meet the Animals

After the market, the events, and all the busy parts of the farm, the animals are worth slowing down for. Kids like to say hello, grown-ups end up taking pictures, and before you know it, everyone has picked out a favourite.

Around the barnyard, you will find a little bit of everybody. From one of our goats who was rescued from our Oliver vineyard, to our big Holstein cows, to the smaller friends wandering around the farm, there is always someone to stop and visit.

We have goats, chickens, pigs, horses, donkeys, llamas, ducks, geese, and cows, each with their own kind of personality. Some are quiet, some are nosy, some are a little dramatic, and some seem to know exactly when people are coming by.

It is a simple part of the farm visit, but it is one people always seem to remember. Come say hello, take a few photos, and spend a little time with the animals while you are here.

Richmond Country Farms

Our Story

If you have made it this far, maybe you are wondering how the farm got started. It began here in Richmond as a roadside farm stand called Delta Farms, with produce coming from our own fields and a whole lot of work behind it.

What started small slowly grew into the market you see today. The name changed, the farm grew, and more people started making us part of their regular stop for fresh produce, plants, pumpkins, flowers, and whatever else was coming in from the field.

Where It All Began

There are a lot of years behind this place. Long days in the fields, early mornings at the stand, family work, changing seasons, and plenty of regular faces who kept coming back.
